Carter Clinics provides assessment, guidance, and coordinated care for pregnancies that may require additional monitoring. Fetal medicine focuses on evaluating the health, growth, and development of the baby while supporting the well-being of the mother throughout pregnancy.
Our healthcare professionals take a patient-centred approach by reviewing the patient’s medical and pregnancy history, screening results, ultrasound findings, and individual concerns. When specialized assessment or treatment is required, Carter Clinics may coordinate referrals to maternal-fetal medicine specialists, obstetricians, diagnostic imaging centres, or hospitals.
We understand that additional testing or concerns during pregnancy can feel overwhelming. Our team provides clear information, compassionate guidance, and coordinated support to help expectant parents understand their care options and make informed decisions.
Depending on clinical needs, care may include pregnancy-risk assessment, prenatal screening, ultrasound coordination, fetal growth monitoring, review of test results, maternal health monitoring, follow-up appointments, and referrals for specialized care.
Our coordinated approach may involve physicians, obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, nurses, sonographers, genetic counsellors, and other healthcare professionals, depending on the needs of the mother and baby.
When further investigation or specialist management is required, Carter Clinics may recommend or coordinate laboratory testing, advanced diagnostic imaging, genetic counselling, hospital-based assessment, or other appropriate healthcare services.
Before your first appointment, please bring a valid photo ID, your Ontario health card or insurance information where applicable, a current medication list, and all relevant referral letters, prenatal records, laboratory reports, ultrasound results, or previous pregnancy records.
During the initial consultation, a healthcare professional may review your medical and pregnancy history, current symptoms, screening results, and any identified risk factors. Based on this assessment, additional testing, monitoring, follow-up care, or referral to an appropriate specialist may be recommended.
